Jerry,
The only census I found him in was the 1880 Kansas. He said he was born in
Ohio. Most of my information is from family sources.

What is your Luther's date of birth? and/or death? and/orparents? spouse?
We need something to single him out.
There are over a dozen Luthers in one line alone.
Dave
I am searching the Carys in Craven County NC, and so far have not found any connections. The two earliest Cary's I have here are Richard and Nicholas, both shown on the 1790 census. My line is from Richard. I would like to find information on where these two men came from. I do not know if they were brothers or father and son. I would like to know their parents and other family members, such as brothers, sisters, etc. Does anyone out there have any line of Carey's that connects to NC. I believe they may possibly come from the Virginia Carys, but have not proven that yet. I get frustrated because they don't seem to connect anywhere, but I know they have to. HELP.
Barbara
Im out there !! And watching carefully... thanks for all the input ! What
happened to the talk about a Carey/Cary lecture/history etc.. in Washington
DC... that idea as I recall was thrown out there... maybe meet at the
Library of Congress where there are at least 4 Cary/Carey books that have
been mentioned on this list there for viewing.
Good luck hunting....

Jerry,
I think I connect with you. Apparently you connect with John's second wife,
Alice Hobson. I connect through his son, John Cary with Elizabeth Hereford.
I have additional information on the Cary line (although sketchy) going back
to 1635. Much of it came from WFT and Family Treemaker, so I have not
personally seen documentation on some of this older stuff.
Let me know if you want it.

Dave,
Thanks for dropping me a note on Asa. I do have that information as well
as the Seth Cary transcripts regarding Asa. I appreciate the thoughtfulness.
Take care

I looked in my FTM 7.0 Family Finder Index and didn't find him but I do
have some new World Family Tree Volumes I will look in, later. I was
hoping more people would speak up but this must be a really small list.
By the way your Polly WATERS interests me but that is a very different
line.

Hi Dorothy,
There is an Edward G. Cary b. July 5, 1846 in "John Cary, The Plymouth
Pilgrim". It states that he is the son of John R. Cary, b. Aug. 7, 1826, Morrow
Co., Ohio and Eliza S. Lewis. They were married July 1, 1845 and he was a
minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church. They lived at Garden Grove, Iowa.
Do you think this could be your Edward G.? If so, I can give you the other
ancestors and his siblings from the book. Let me know if you want to know any
more.

Any help appreciated. I've seen the name spelled both ways so I really don't
know what is correct. Thank for any thoughts you might have on this family.

My Cary was born in Tn abt. 1849. His name is William(ggrandfather) but we
were told he sometimes went by Bill. We can find him on the 1880 Henderson
Co. Tn census with his wife and children. His wife was Matilda (Myracle)
and his children were Carline, Bell, Paralee, William Ervin (our
grandfather), John, Joe, and Jessy. He had another son that was born after
that census and his name was Green. In this census he and his family were
listed in the George Moore home in the 15th district. We believe George
Moores wife and Williams wife were sisters.
We cannot find his birthparents. There were several Carys in this area at
the time of his birth (1849). They were believed to all have been brothers
and came together or soon after each other. They came from North Carolina
and it is believed that their father was Thomas. The only one that shows a
son born in 1849 is William and Caroline. This is the best possibility but
can't find anything to verify it. In the 1850 census the child a son born
to William and Caroline in 1849 is listed a Pigue. In 1860 the child is
listed as Pinkley. We cannot find Pinkley, Pigue or William in the 1870 so
now we don't know. We think he might have used the name of William after he
grew to manhood rather than Pigue or Pinkley. The 15th and the 18th
districts connect, and the names are almost a giveaway, William names his
first child Carline, which could have been after his mother. If anyone has
anything on this family I would love to hear from you.

Well, since I know nothing about my Susannah Cary, other than she married
Van Davis about 1759, I can't add anything to the list. Occasionally I send
my query, but nobody has a Susannah.

Craig
As you may know, your Asa Cary, Jr. is listed in Section 178 of Seth C.
Cary's book John Cary the Plymouth Pilgrim as follows:
Asa Cary, son of Asa, Sec. 85, b. Erie County, N.Y., Aug.22,1821;
m. Laura Rice, Nov. 18, 1849; removed to Silver Creek, N.Y.
Children:
I. Homer A. b. May 28, 1854.
II. Almira A., b. Dec 25, 1858
III. Sibian G., b Mar. 12, 1861
IV. Laura A., b. Sept. 24, 1862.
V. Edgar H., b. Sept., 27, 1864
Dave
Vicki
Your Eleazer Cary and his father William are listed in Section 117 of
Seth C. Cary's 1911 book John Cary the Plymouth Pilgrim. Luther Cary's
mother was the secretary who helped compile the book. Luther continued
their work until his death a few years ago. He compiled a typewritten
supplement and placed copies of it in many of the larger genealogical
libraries. His family was kind enough to give me his files for safekeeping
and to carry on his work of helping other Cary researchers.
I have 4 pages of Luther's handwritten notes on your Section 117 William
Cary family and will be happy to send you copies if you send your snailmail
address to Matawadave(a)aol.com
Dave Carey.
I'm here. I signed up a while ago but have hit a snag. Here is what I'm
trying to trace:
My father: Philip Carey, dob: 2/8/16-20, his mother: Elizabeth Carey,
dob: 12/25/09; her father: Ba(e)rnard Carey; her mother: Lucy Glover.
Now I'm at a standstill. Looking for any information going back. Thanks and
good luch to you.
CarolCareyWalton
I'm here, but very new to the list. I just posted my first message a
couple of days ago ,and have been lucky enough to have a line that is
easily traced. I thank everyone who has forwarded such great information
to me!
Now, for a little tidbit....I cannot verify this, but maybe it will help
someone.
I have a notation that was forwarded to me from a second cousin, from a
letter that was sent to her from a Luther Cary. I have no idea who
Luther is, maybe one of you do.
Anyway the tidbit is that Eleazer Cary, son of William Cary and Peninah
Rodman, became a prominent physician in Perry, Illinois. I imagine
that this Eleazer Cary would have been born somewhere between 1810 and
1820. [That is because he was the oldest of four children. Maria, the
youngest and where my line connects, was born in 1823.]
Like I said, just an unverified tidbit, but I hope it helps someone go
in the right direction.
Vicki
Well, since I know nothing about my Susannah Cary, other than she married
Van Davis about 1659, I can't add anything to the list. Occasionally I send
my query, but nobody has a Susannah.
