I have been searching for information on Henry CARY for many years. His
civil war pension files and census files show his birth date to be 1834
in Hanover, Germany. Since Hanover was a "city state" then, that is
like knowing that he is from New Jersey! He emigrated to Shawnee
Township, Allen County and first shows up on the 1850 census. On the
1900 Census, he shows as John Henry CARY. He was married to Rebecca
WHYMAN of Van Wert County, Ohio. His son Nelson Lorenzo Dow CARY moved
to Manhattan, Riley, Kansas. My grandmother, Florence Adelia Cary
NELSON was Nelson's daughter.
Any researchers on this line out there? I would love to correspond with
you!

Barbara, Thanks for the information. That would be the right dates for the
person that I came across - two court cases 1760-1. I am doing some research in
the RI Judicial Archives. If this is your line, I might be able to look at the
original papers. Any interest? Thanks,

The list owner has the final say but I personally hope we get
MCCARY researchers. My reason for being here is an elusive Great
Grandmother listed as CARY, CAREY, KARY and MCCARY depending where I
look.
While on the subject, anyone have anything on Diane CARY (etc) of
Lewis County KY? She was born ca 1814 in Ohio and Married James POLLY of
Lewis County Kentucky sometime before 1855. She is believed to be a
sister to Nancy CARY who married into the TEAGER family of Lewis County
KY. There was also an Issac CARY who may be their father but the
relationship is unproven.

I have heard of Barnabus Cary, but have not put him in my lineage, but it
seems to me that he was in the line of John Cary II, the immigrant founding
father of Plymouth Plantation, d. 1681, Bridgewater Colony, MA, who m.
Elizabeth Godfrey. Pls don't take this as Gospel! My memory tends to wobble
sometimes :-)

Hello to all!
I saw the post from Kay regarding postings to "McCary" and was hoping
you would be so kind to include us "McCarry"'s also. As there are so few
of us and we seem to be out there in the world as orphans! It would be
so great to be included in the adoption. I hope there will be no
objection.
Thanks very much in advance.

Hi,
Looking for any information on Joseph CARY who married Catherine Pringle in
Nelson County, KY in 1790. They had the following children:
John married Frances Stokes
Rebecca married Orman Sellers and James Evans
James Henry married Mary Ligon and Nancy Sights
Isaac married Martha Ligon
Nancy married Jeremiah Crowley
Anna married Notley Duvall
Catherine married Ebenezer Cobb
They were in Henderson, Hopkins and Webster Counties, KY as well as Hamilton
County, IL. Thanks for any help.

Kay:
Sounds like a great idea! This list is only about 2 months old and I think
would be a great addition to help it grow. I have found the CARY name to be
a great melting pot of lines, even tho the main CARY name is an old name and
has very early foundations in this country.
In any event, without further ado<sp> and objections aside, welcome aboard!

Sarah,
A recommended book for information about Bridget CARY is _Ancestry of
Benjamin Harrison_ by Charles Keith. I would like to get a list of William
BASSETT and Bridget CARY's children, as I haven't yet gotten hold of this
work. I am descended from Bridget's brother Thomas and would be happy to
share anything I have about Thomas's descendants.

Hugh Carey born in Maryland , 1832. Married Nancy Anna Duffy in Conneticut
circa 1853. I would like to know more about Hugh and his family. He fought in
the Civil War and was wounded at Battle of Shiloh. He moved to Kansas with his
wife and died there. That is all we know of him. Can anyone else shed light on
a Hugh Carey of that time.
Karen Watts
I am descended from Bridget Cary (b.1652), who married William Bassett. She
was the daughter of Miles Cary. Anyone else share this line? I'd be interested
to hear what you know.

I am searching for the family of Henry CARY. Henry was born 14 July
1832 and emigrated from Hanover, Germany in 1838. None of his civil war
files indicate a more precise birth place than Hanover. His son, Nelson
Lorenzo Dow CARY was born 24 Oct 1867 at Lima, Allen Co., Ohio. He
moved to Kansas and died in Manhattan, Riley, Kansas on 5 Jan 1907. He
married Daisy Elizabeth PITMAN. If this family is familiar, I would
love to exchange information. I have lots of information on Henry and
his children, but cannot find his birthtown in Germany. But, he has
only been my DEAD END for about 25 years now <G>!

Hi,
I just recently found this list and am delighted to know it is up and running.
I have a lot of Carey/Cary info. Somewhere after what I am going to put here,
I have made an error and chosen the wrong brother. I will try to go back and
get this corrected so that I can list all the info I have. The farthest I have
gone is to Adam DeKari of Somerset, England, 1170.
I am, however, interested right now in finding more information on the closer
relations w/ Benjamin Franklin Carey and Henry Edward "Cad" Carey. Would also
like more info on the Cooley and McNeely lines. Pls let me know how we
connect. Thanks,
Nancy Sparks Morrison
