Just located these two links yesterday. The first one is user friendly and
will let you browse their records and look for ancestors mentioned in records
during the period of the Revolutionary War. Several "CARYL" names are
mentioned in Volume 6 of these records. Do any of you have any information
on a CARYL spelling of the CARWILE surname in Virginia during the
Revolutionary War time frame. The CARWILE surname is almost universally
misspelled in most census records!!!!!!

Still looking for parents and siblings of Jacob CARWILE, Sr. [1751-1837] born
in Goochland Co, VA and died in Campbell Co, VA. Also do any of you have
any information on an Elinor CARWILE who married a John GREGORY ca 1780 in
VA. They migrated to KY and the family later intermarried with the John
Henry CARWILE family in Breckinridge Co, KY. John Henry CARWILE was son of
David C. CARWILE who was son of Jacob CARWILE, Sr.
All my research now supports the circumstasibncial evidence pointing to the
following on Jacob CARWILE, Sr. family. None proven, just circumstancial
facts; such as the fact that both Zachariah CARWILE [1750-1841] and Jacob
CARWILE, Sr. list Goochland Co, VA as their birthplace on their Rev War
Pension Applications; Jacob filed for Pension in Campbell Co, VA and
Zachariah filed in Abbeville Co, SC.
My UNPROVEN conclusions using circumstancial evidence on Jacobs parents,
siblings is as follows:
CARWILE, William shown in 1787 Census in Charlotte Co, VA
Mary wife of William from court papers of
Charlotte Co, VA
Zachariah born in Goochland Co, VA in 1750
Jacob born in Goochland Co, VA in
1751(Campbell Co, VA 1787)
Elinor married John GREGORY ca 1780; had
first child in 1782
Lucy married Peter ROSS in Charlotte Co,
VA on 25 Dec 1788
Robertson married Lucy ROACH in Charlotte Co,
VA on 8 Sep 1794
This is just speculation on my part and has not been proven to any degree
that William was father of Jacob. All the circumstancial evidence I have
accumulated over the last 22 years points to this unproven conclusion on my
part.
