Still looking for information on the parents and siblings of Jacob CARWILE,
Sr. [1751--1837]; born in Goochland County, VA and died in Campbell Co, VA.
Served in the Revolutionary War from Fluvanna Co, VA; Pension Application
#S12709; listed incorrectly as Jacob CORNEYLE and Jacob CARWYLE.
Jacob had a son named William CARWILE who was born ca 1777 and died before
1830 in Tennessee? William served in War of 1812 from Campbell Co, VA in
Captain William LEIGH'S Company, 2 Corps d'Elite (Green's) Regiment Virginia
Militia from Aug to Dec 1814. William married Mary (Ann) DANIEL, d/o Peter
DANIEL on 02 Dec 1800 in Campbell County, VA.
We had no reliable information on William's children until a couple of years
ago when someone discovered the following in a Virginia Court record
concerning the Estate of William's brother Zachariah CARWILE who had died in
1851 without a legal Will:
CHARLOTTE COUNTY, VA COURT RECORD, MONDAY 01 DEC 1851:
John CARWILE; Jacob CARWILE; Mary CARWILE; Sarah CARWILE; David CARWILE, all
brothers and sisters of Zachariah CARWILE, dec'd. Cassandra CARWILE, Jacob
CARWILE, Peter CARWILE, Zachariah CARWILE, and Rachael CARWILE, children of
William CARWILE, dec'd, who was a BROTHER of Zachariah CARWILE, dec'd.
Plaintiffs against: {In Chancery}
Thomas PUGH, Administrator of Zachariah CARWILE, dec'd. Defendant
I have information on the following children of William CARWILE:
Jacob CARWILE; Peter CARWILE; Cassandra CARWILE; I have information on a
Catherine CARWILE [married Aaron BEAN on 22 Feb 1829 in Grainger Co, TN] who
may be RACHAEL Catherine CARWILE!!!!
I am looking for information on William's son Zachariah CARWILE who would have
been born sometime between 1800 and 1820. Any information on this son of
William CARWILE will be appreciated. He could have died young. Williams
widow Mary Ann CARWILE is shown in 1830 Census of Jefferson Co, TN with a male
20-30 whom I think was Peter CARWILE and a female 15-20. In the 1840 Census
Peter CARWILE shows a female 60-70 in his household; I presume this was his
mother.
I think that Mary Ann CARWILE [Williams widow] migrated to Missouri with her
son Jacob CARWILE and his family after 1840 Census. An Ann CARWILE was placed
in the Osage Co, MO "POOR HOUSE" at Linn, MO shortly after Jacob [1844] and
Sarah Starr CARWILE [1846] died. Her upkeep was paid by Jesse SUTTON who had
married Jacob's step-daughter Nancy STARR. Jacob CARWILE's three youngest
children; Andrew Marshall 11, Sarah Caroline 10, and Jacob Newton CARWILE 9,
are shown in the household of Jesse SUTTON and wife Nancy (STARR) in 1850
Census of Osage Co, MO.
