I have found a document in Autauga County, Alabama that names the wife of David Carwile as
Mary Carwile. The document is the sale by Zachariah Carwile, son of David Carwile (see my
earlier post of David Carwile's will and Zachariah's petition to probate), to his
sisters of his (Zachariah's) right to property as an heir of Mary Carwile from a Deed
of Trust from David Carwile to others in Trust for Mary Carwile wife of David Carwile and
her children at her death.

I believe this Deed of Trust was executed in Kershaw County, South Carolina. In the 1820
Federal Census, David Carwile is enumerated in Kershaw County, South Carolina. Also
enumerated in this census in Kershaw County are Henry Abbot, William Nixon, and Benjamin
Benham(Birnbaum?)the trustees of the Deed of Trust. David's household includes 2
males under 10, 2 males between 16 and 18, 1 male of 16 and under 26, 1 male of 45 and
upwards (David would be age 47) 2 females under 10, 2 females of 10 and under 16, 2
females of sixteen and under 26, 1 female of 45 and upwards (Mary?)
Apparently Mary is deceased as Zachariah states the property belongs to him as one of the
heirs of Mary Carwile. This would put her death as probably between 1820 and 1829.
Obviously Zachariah has relocated to Alabama by 1829 and probably David as well. The 1829
records are the earliest I have found for them in Autauga County so far.
