HOWLAND - F. Lorene Carvin, 85, died at Shepherd of the Valley,
Howland, Ohio on Feb. 14, 2014.
She was born in Owen Sound, Ontario, Canada on Oct. 4, 1928, and was
the adopted daughter of the late Loren and Florence Schell Piercey.
Lorene was a graduate of Branksome Hall, a private girl's school in
Toronto in 1947, and moved with her parents to Poplar Bluff, Mo.,
where she worked as a practical nurse.
She met her husband, Walter while working as a waitress at Heart Lake
Conference Center near Scranton, Pa.
Lorene married him on New Years Eve 1949.
With her husband in the ministry, the couple lived in Philadelphia,
Utica, N.Y., Newark N.J., Princeton, N.J., and for the last 40 years,
here in Warren, Ohio.
Lorene worked for many years as secretary for Household Carriers
Bureau in Warren and was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Warren from
1972 to 1988, when her husband retired from pastoral work.
She was an expert seamstress and made all three daughters wedding
dresses.
She was an excellent cook, and loved to entertain guests and give
parties.
She is survived by her husband, Walter Carvin; daughters, Rose Lorene
Miller of Munn Hall, Pa., Elizabeth Manno of Hatboro, Pa. and Rebecca
Carvin of Manhattan, N.Y.; son, Paul Carvin of South Euclid, OH;
sister, Gloria Biznek of Staunton, Ill.; granddaughter, Karen Manno;
and grandsons, Kevin Manno, Zachery Miller, Turner Carvin and Matthew
Carvin.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at 11 a.m. at
the Christ Episcopal Church with Fr. J. Jeffery Baker officiating.
Friends are invited for visitation one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Episcopal Church,
2627 Atlantic St. NE, Warren, OH 44483.
Arrangements are entrusted to the McFarland and Son Funeral and
Cremation Services Co., 271 North Park Ave., Warren, OH 44481.
