After looking for a long long time I think I have found Mary Ann Carver Propst/Propes who
was the daughter of David C. Carver. From info posted I had her married to William M.
Propst and children George W., Jacob Avery, Rosa Etta, Edward William, James Floyd Propst.
Somewhere someone said she was in Chattanooga, TN but I had not been able to locate her
there or anywhere else. Finally with the new birth records I found 2 children with birth
dates. I found Jacob in 1900 in Waynesville. Decided to try TN in census since the
spelling was PROPES not PROPST as I hHarriman, ad been looking for. In the 1920 & 1930
census for Roane Co., TN I found Geo. W., in the 1920 cen. for Warwick Co., VA I found
Edward & also in the 1930 Chattanooga, TN. Finally, I found a Jake in Knox Co., Dist.
8, TN with step children with the last name of RUNION. The last name in the family was a
Mary showing a last name of RUNION also. But it said she was "mother" and was
Wd. , age UN & born NC. There !
are a lot of Mary Propes but only a few to fit Mary Ann's age and they leave a
question mark. There was one in Black Mt. but with 8 of 9 children, none matched the above
listed. So I'm confused on where she was after 1900 when her husband died and before
1930 with Jake (if correct). Can anyone clear this up for me. There are many George's
and Jacobs. They were probably not married in 1900. If Mary Ann died in 1945 like I saw
posted online she should be on the census. I hope someone has some connection to this
family to clear this up.
I hope I've made this clear.
