WOW! I'm floored! Thank you so much for answering so many questions, and letting in on
the news.
I can hardly believe that you have put all this together. I have seen those records for a
"Zalmon" that seemed to match, but discounted them, having no records to support
them as being of my family.
Oh my; I hope you don't mind if I use this info at my tree, as this is an amazing
story.
The Goodrich boys were step-sons of Achsah Smith Carver's sister, Lucy Smith Fish
Goodrich. And, I agree that Zalmon's ego may have suffered as the Smith and Goodrich
families had success in business. I had figured that the Smith and Carver families met in
Cayuga Co, NY, that's what brought Zalmon to Michigan, when his family went to Ohio.
Achsah Smith's parents died in 1825 so she would have inherited, which would finance
the moves to NYS and later to Ohio.
