There was a Quaker family named Carver which immigrated into PA in the late 1600's,
and most of that group settled in Bucks County. You may find that your John C. Carver
belongs to that group. I'd recommend researching the tax lists, deeds and land
records, wills and estate records, etc., for your family line, to confirm the data you
have already (which is a good start), and go back as far as that kind of in-depth research
will take you. You can also contact or visit the Friends Historical Collection at
Swarthmore College outside Philadelphia, to see if they can help you identify the family
as being Quaker. I am told they have a good collection of information on the Carver
family which was Quaker. I need to visit them myself.
My husband's ancestor Charles Benbow married Mary Carver, daughter of James Carver,
Sr., of the Quaker family. There are a few published genealogies of the Carver family out
there, but they vary considerably in quality, and I never trust a compiled genealogy
without confirming the data myself, anyway. Besides, one learns so much in doing the
research instead of relying on the conclusions of another individual.
Good luck with your research.
