Dear Kathy:
Since last I wrote on this forum (I do not know if you are watching the other forums) I
think I have found evidence that Pleasant Carver of Hardin Cy KY and Mahaska Cy Iowa was
son of a Pleasant and a Nancy Carver. Tax lists indicate there was a Pleasant Carver in
Hardin Cy in 1825 and marriage records indicate that he was father of a Jesse Carver.
Jesse Carver was sponsor in 1836 to the marriage of a Pleasant Carver (still under age)
and a Ms Redmond. No further record of that marriage has been noted and it seems likley
that she did not long survive. Pleasant Carver of Mahaska married Mahala Bodenhamer in
Vigo County (where I suspect his mother was living, probably remarried as Pleasant Sr
appears to have died 1827-1830). Pleasant is probably that same Pleasant who was living
in adjoining Grayson Cy in 1810 together with William Carver, Thomas Carver and John
Carver (None of the others of whom I have ever been able to find evidence of again).
If you e-mail me at rgcatron(a)polka.plala.or.jp I can provide fill information on this
hypothesis.
