Hi William,
To be honest I don't remember...but that's not unusual these days. haha
Anyway, I know I have talked about my g. grandfather having a brother named William but I
have never found any proof that he had a brother. It was something I heard in the family
and that he said. Supposedly he had 2 sisters and a brother. There is only one John and
Elizabeth on any census for 1860 that is close to fitting and they had no children. They
were my g. grandfather's parents. That is the only census that would have had them on
it before he went to war and died. Since my grandfather was raised by a black woman and
sent off to white people when they were freed....I'm wondering if he was thinking
about her children. OR maybe the children of the man who raised him after that. He was
John Beasley in Fines Cr. It's something I guess I'll never know.
I got the DNA kit from Family Tree DNA. You can go to their website
familytreedna.com and
type in Carver and you can read all about it. They had a special for the 37 marker through
August for $119.00 plus shipping. I can't remember but I think regular price is
$189.00. My uncle and I split the price. He has received his kit and will be mailing it
back I hope this week. You don't have to do the 37 marker test. You could do the
lesser one and it will be cheaper but the more markers tested the better chance of proof
of a match.
Since I have so many still unanswered questions I hoped someone from Haywood Co. would do
the DNA in hopes of making things more clear...but it also could make it more
confusing...I hope not.
If you have a lot of blank spots I encourage you to do the test too. The more testers the
better.
Nice to hear from you,
Dianne

Hello Dianne
I think that we have talked a little before. I think that we are in the same boat
tracking our Carvers. We were thinking that maybe, your George and my William may be
brothers. My question is " Are you the one who is having the DNA test run on your
Uncle. If so, where did you get the kit, and how expensive was it.??" I am thinking
that maybe I will have one done on me.
Thanks
William Carver
