I am currently researching my family tree and am related to the Carvers of Somerset. If
anybody has any information or leads that could help me I would be extremely grateful.
At the moment I am trying to trace the birth of William Carver circa 1770/71 place
unknown. He married Mary Chancellor and lived in Croscombe, Somerset, where he died March
1849 of dropsy. I have traced the names of 10 of their children. I am descended from his
son William Carver 1805-1890.
William lived and died in Croscombe. He married Eliza Marshman. Again I have traced 10
names of children me being related to James Chancellor Carver 1840-???.
James married Martha Ann White, last known address Alham Batcombe / Chesterblade. I have
traced 7 children.
My ancestor Richard Walter Carver 1866-1938 was born in Croscombe. He married Mary Jane
Hutchins and had 5 children, 4 girls and a boy. They moved to Doulting, nr Shepton
Mallet.
His son was Thomas James Carver 1895-1975.
I have traced one possible birth for William in the village of Ubley Somerset where he was
baptised June 1770 the son of Covey and Mary Carver. There are mentions of people from the
village of Wedmore in Ubley's Parish records and so I was wondering if their was a
link between the Wedmore Carvers and those of Ubley again any information would be
gratefully received.
Thankyou,
Deborah
