Hi Jeannie,
I'm not sure I can be of much help with your Nancy but I think I might have Edward
Carver in my database. The Edward Carver I have was born abt. 1798 in Person County, NC.
He was the son of John L Carver & Margaret Dycus. I don't have a spouse or
children for Edward. There was an Edward Carver in Jackson County, TN in 1820 &
I'm sure it's the Edward I speak of, possibly yours as well. In the household
were one male 26-45, 2 females under 10, 1 female 16-26 & 2 females 26-45. I
couldn't find an Edward Carver in TN or KY in 1830. Nancy Carver is enumerated in
Smith County, TN in 1840. As I'm sure you know, many times siblings would marry into
the same families (ie: a brother married to the sister of his sister's husband).
Unfortunately, that wasn't the case with the children of John and Margaret Carver.
All the spouses I have for their children were from different families.
I know this doesn't help much with the maiden name of your Nancy. I haven't been
working on the Carvers recently but I will definitely keep my eyes open & let you know
if I find any clues at all.
On a side note, your name caught my eye because I know a Jeannie Gregory here in
Nashville.
Christy

He was born around 1790 in Tennessee, His son spelled the John Lear and John Leer That
went to Illinois. This is all I have except he married my Nancy Unknown for a 2nd wife.
I know John Leer went to Wilson County before going to Illinois. A lot of Carvers There.
Could have been related to them I wish I had more
Thanks for everything
Jeannie
Still searching for the hole in the brick wall.

Jeannie,
Do you know who Edward Carver's parents were? My paternal grandmother was a Carver
from Jackson County, TN and I have an extensive database on the Carvers. Some of the
Carvers in my database were in Kentucky.

Subject: [CARVER] CARVER/HUGHES
I am researching Nancy Unknown Carver Hughes Born abt 1815/1817 in Kentucky
1st husband Edward Carver and they had 3 children. She was his 2nd wife and
their 3 children were John Lear Carver, Elizabeth Isadora Carver and William
Riley Carver.
Sometime between 1840 and 1843she married John A Hughes on Funns Branch in
Smith/Jackson County TN. They had two Children Nancy S Hughes and Zachary
Hughes.
We have many times wondered about the maiden name. Has anyone out
researched this person very much.
Could Her maid name be Lear, Riley or William/Williams
She had her 1st child in 1932 at the age of 15 to 17 years of age That was
John Lear Carver. He moved to Illinois and his line is still there.
Elizabeth Isadora married Birdwell Law of Macon Co TN and died there. Do
not know what Happened to William Riley Carver born btw 1936 and 1938. My
family line comes through Nancy S Hughes. She born btw 1843/1844 and Zachary
Hughes born 1849. Do not know what happened to him.
In the 1840 census she is in the household as head and with several
children. Some would be his children by previous marriage. When she
married John A Hughes and in the 1850 census she only has Elizabeth Isadora
Carver, William Riley Carver, Nancy S Hughes and Zachary Hughes.
This is our family brick wall. Who was she before she ever married. By
being so young we wonder if the family lived around them and that is how
they met. Still searching and coming up with bricks.
