At one time a part of Tennessee was a territory of North Carolina. A part
of Tennessee was also The state of Franklin. Now part of this went to VA,
NC and TN when it did not become a legal state. Also remember that the
state lines were in dispute a lot. So search each state that borders the
state of tn for information also. Especially Northern Tn and Southern KY
there is a line known as the Walker Line and the information can be in
either state or both states. Also Shelby County Tn and Desoto County MS had
line disputes a lot also. I do a lot of Carver research for I have a brick
wall with that line also Nancy Unknown Carver Hughes
In one census is gives her as Haney Hughes She was born 1817 KY. She
married Carver and had 3 children by him John Leer, Elizabeth Isadora and
William Riley
John married and went to Illinois, The family is also searching for this
Unknown Nancy. Elizabeth Isadora married Birdwell Law of Macon County TN.
Do not know what happened To William Riley Carver
About 1842 she married John A Hughes of Smith County TN and they had a
daughter named Nancy S Hughes abt 1843 and a son named Zachary 1849. I
descend through Nancy, Do not know what happened to Zachary either.
Will keep an Eye out for your carver brick wall also
Jeannie

I will post to this old thread in hopes someone gets the message. My Carver
brick wall is in Tennessee I believe. I have been looking for Richard
Carver and wife Mary A. forever with no luck. I know thse are the correct
names, the birthdates and places of birth came from Missouri census.
Richard was born 1796 in S.C. and Mary about 1809 in N.C. The date and
State for Julette's Sarah Carver family is very close to my Richards. My
father-in-law told me they came out of Tennessee. If anyone has any
information they could share, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks so much. Ruth Carver
