Message Board Post:
I am descended from Thomas Carver b)about 1823 in Kentucky.
Married 22July 1841 to Sarah A. Wells in Vigo County, Indiana. Sarah was born about 1824
also in Kentucky.
They had 10 children that I can trace to various censuses.
Nancy Ellen (married Hiram Gephart Morrow, 03 December 1863, Mahaska, Iowa), Maria Louisa
(married Andrew Lash, 08 June 1868, Mahaska, Iowa), Sarah (married UNKNOWN Lash), Lavina,
Serina (married Michael M. Stanton, 03 July 1872, Oskaloosa, Mahaska, Iowa), Samuel,
Matilda (married Josiah Knox, 09 May 1880, Phillips County, Kansas), Jerald (married Ada
A. Knox, 29 January 1888, Phillips County, Kansas), James.
I am interested any information about this family, especially my gggrandmother their
daughter Serina A. The censuses in which Thomas or Sarah provided the information have
her birth date as 1855, in Vigo County, Indiana. Serina, who also went by the name of
Melvina, herself reported it as 20March 1855 in Oskaloosa, Mahaska, Iowa. I have found
that their children match the siblings reported in Melvina's obituary. Her marriage
date and spouse agree with records I've found for Serina. Is this family familiar to
anyone?? And can any light be shed on the descrepancies??
I have more information on the rest of the Carver children if this will be helpful to
anyone in their search.
Thanks,
Lenora
