I read your message and will keep it on file. The info I have came from several sources
including cousin Patty Carver a number of years ago from the family Bible. James Sr. was
born in Albermarle where he lived on Turkey Sag Rd. He also lived briefly in Bedford Co.
Va. then purchased land in Madison Co. Ky. She gave a list of James and Judith Long's
children-including my ancestor Sophia. His father-Archibald (Archeleus Archibald)
p[ossibly came to Louisa Co. Va. from Goochland Co. but was born in Stafford Co. where
wife Hannah was also born. He was a planter and speculated in land in Louisa and
Albermarle counties about 1765. Some their information appears in public documents in
Albermarle Co. Another cousin Larry Carver says the line began with Richard Carver in 1577
in Filby Parish, Norfolkshire England. and settled in Watertown Mass. His son Capt.
William bought a ship-the 'Expedicon' in 1664. In 1669 he had a land grant in
Lower Norfolk Co. Va. He was High Sheriff and th!
e member of the House of Burgesses in 1665. He also took part in Bacon's Rebellion in
1676 to oust the Governor of Virginia. Maybe some of this will be of help to you? You can
contact me directly thru my website:
Pixleyblair.tribalpages.com from the home page where,
at the top, you will find a 'click here' link to leave a message and your email
address. No one else will see it and it will be forwarded to me so I can answer you.
Best Wishes, Barbara
