I looked up a few things for you regarding your Wiley Carver.
Your line is as follows:
Wiley Carver, born 1890
Sal Carver
Gilson Carver, 1828, md. Mary Green, 1832
David C. Carver, abt 1803, md. Orpha Hannah, then married Mahala Cooper
Christopher Carver, abt 1756, md. Elizabeth Whisenhut, b 1766
Christopher Carver, 1705, md Nancy Draper
John Carver, b 21 Feb 1687, md. Isabel Welding, b 1688
John Carver, b 1657, the immigrant, md Mary Lane, b 1660.
In the 1920 Census of Fines Creek, Haywood, N.C., Wiley Carver is age 30 and
in the household is his Grandmother Mary age 93. There is also an Aunt in
the household named Betty, age 49.
In the 1910 Census of Fines Creek, Haywood, N.C., Mary Carver is age 80,
Widowed. Thomas Carver, Son, age 54, Widowed is also in the household.
There is also an Inez, age 46 as a Son of Mary. He is single, however.
Bettie is in the household, age 42. (Same as in 1920 census). Also in the
household is Riley 20, Grover 17, and Bob 12, all grandchildren. Wiley is
in Tennessee with a Riley Green, who eariler is in Haywood, N.C. Riley
Green must be a nephew of Mary Green, wife of Gilson Carver.
In the 1900 Census of Fines Creek, Haywood, N.C., Wiley is shown as born Mar
1890, age 10, and in the household of Gilson Carver and wife Mary. Wiley is
listed as their grandson. There is also a Riley Carver, born Mar 1890 as a
Grandson. Wiley and Riley appear to be twins.
In the 1880 Census of Fines Creek, Haywood, N.C., Gilson is age 52, wife
Mary 50, and in the household is J. S. Henry Carver, age 17, N. Jane Carver,
age 15?, and S. Elizabeth Carver, age 12.
In the 1870 Census of Fines Creek, Haywood, N.C. Gilson is 42, Mary is 38,
and in the household is Thomas 17, David 15, Margaret 11, Jane 6, Henry 8
and Elizabeth 1. (This Elizabeth certainly must be the Aunt Betsy in the
1920 Census).
In the 1860 Census of Div 37, Haywood, N.C. Gilson is 30, Mary 28, and in
the household is Joseph M. 12, Wm T. 9, David G. 7, Polly M. 3, and Margaret
c. 7/12.
I was unable to fine Gilson and family in the 1850 census.
The rest of the information I found on
Familysearch.org and through
Ancestry.com
I could not find a Sal as one of Gilson's children, so it is likely that Sal
was a nickname. Maybe it was for Samuel Thomas Carver, born 1852, son of
Gilson Carver. Henry Carver was shown as J. S. Henry Carver, age 17 in the
1880 census - perhaps the S is for Sal or something like Sal.
Well, I hope this helps.
Brent

I am hoping some one might have this family in theirs. My Grandma's
parents were Wiley Carver and Lillie Hill Carver. On the death cert. for
Wiley Hill it shows his father as Sal Carver and his mother as Jane
Plemmons. They were from Haywood Co, NC Area. Seems like I am running into
a brick wall on this family. Any help would be great...
