Message Board Post:
Hello!
George William and Laura (Newhouse) Carver were my great, great grandparents and I have
quite a bit of info for you! First, let me thank you for the info that your post provided
for me...George's first marriage info. I am beholden to ya, as they used to say.
Hahaha!
Okay, the children of George and Laura (per my father, Richard Carver, still living, son
of Ben Carver):
Edward L. Carver, Ben and Roger (twins), Viola, Izetta, Lee and finally Clyde...not
necessarily in that order.
I have been told that Laura also had a last name of Cox at some time and learned online
that she had a son named George in 1889. I am assuming (I know, it's dangerous to do
that!) that his last name is Cox, although the online source didn't state that.
I am new to genealogy and have only recently started searching using
ancestry.com since my
sister (Pamela) recently subscribed. I have more info if you are interested. MY email
address is mrsrogers(a)verizon.net if you would like to contact me directly. Otherwise, my
responses may be somewhat delayed as my sister doesn't get online much and therefore,
can't forward them to me until she does. Maybe you can copy and paste it into a
separate email to me so that others can still see your response here.
Btw, our membership level doesn't allow us to see the actual documents of the census
records so I can't see Laura's roomers. I will tell you, however, that Geo W.
Carver, listed in Ward 17 of St. Louis in the same census, states that he is divorced.
Just above his name in the census list are Rodger and Leo (Roger and Lee, according to my
Dad) and their birth years are correct so I assume they were living with him. I'm not
sure where the others were living at that time. I'll have to ask my Dad some more
specific questions, I guess. I only have about a million questions for him and he is hard
of hearing so it takes awhile as he rambles on with stories...what a blessing to have him
still with me and able to share them, though!
I look forward to hearing from you soon. If you will write me off list, I would just love
it.
Susan
