Hi Roger, you wrote me in Oct. & this was my reply. Let me know if I can help.
I looked at your info a little. Will look again. I worked on our Carvers for
over 30 yrs. Then finally decided to end it since I could not find for sure
which country they came from. I put it together in book form. Not hard cover
because of cost. There isn't much to really document a lot of it. I studied and
looked and came to a conclusion on what I found. Now, sometimes I still wonder
if I'm right or what is right. I stopped because so many in the family that
really wanted to know had died. I still look some on occasion. My uncle John R.
Carver (Sonny) gave a sample and DNA was done. I was hoping for a clear answer
but we did not get one. I do not understand DNA and read about it but get more
confused. They only gave a general location...Germany...English... So many
people on
Ancestry.com put wrong info on and pass it on and on and on. You have
seen I'm sure that the father of Christopher b. 1756 is Christopher b. 1705 (?)
and Chris #2 father is John and John and on back to the Bucks Co., Pa Carvers.
But I have never seen anything and no one has ever given me anything to prove
that. And I have asked a lot.
John Carver...the one I believe is ours...the son of David C. ...they say is
John H. Carver. That's what one person said...only one that I know. He
interviewed Nathan when he was in his 80's. I had a person also interview him
but did not get that info. I wonder if the other person did not hear correctly.
Possibly he said John A. Carver? I just use John because that is what is on the
marriage license for grandpa Carver and Callie in Haywood Co., NC. One witness
on it was Reuben Beasley. That is where they married. And as you know Reuben's
father John raised him. It also said his mother was Lizze. Reuben was in the war
with John. The other witness was Ruben Lowe who I think..off the top of my
head...was also in the same unit in the war.
I don't have a lot of info on Ella or Harley Davis in their early marriage. But
I have some on the children. I was in touch with someone whose name I can't
remember right now. Would that be you? It's probably in my papers somewhere. He
was in the service.
It's great to hear from you and hear new stories. I'll help how I can.
Dianne
