Thank you for the information. Since they seem to have married pre revolution in many
cases it would not be surrising if they participated in the move to the interior following
the revolution. I am curious if any of William's (or perhaps more correctly
Archibald's) progeny can be identified as the Grayson Kentucky Carvers. Pleasant
Carver of Mahaska said his parents were from Tennessee (I think it was) and his sister
said they were from North Carolina. There was a period when Tennessee was not yet
established but thought of itself as other than North Carolina.
There is an area of Virginia in and around Grayson County where the Tennessee North
Carolina and Virginia borders all meet. This area (Grayson in Virginia, Ashe in North
Carolina and Watauga in Tennessee provided a large part of the later settlers of Grayson
Cy KY. This area did during and after the revolution receive an influx of people from
Louisa, Albemarle and counties in that area.
Was the name "Pleasant" at all common among Archobald's descendants?
Thank you again and Best Regards
Grady Loy
