My grandmother, Rosa Moore Pritchett Robinson, told me my father, Ondis Pritchett, was
named after Aundo Carver, son of James Felix Carver. The only family relationship
mentioned to me was the marriage of Aundo's sister to a Cromer who was Rosa's
first cousin.
Rosa's grandmother was Mary Jane Watson, who married John Willis Moore. Mary Jane
Wattson (other families with the same name were called "Watson" on the census)
is found on the 1850 census of Washington County, Illinois. She married John 1852 in Perry
County, Illinois. Both are buried in St. Francois County, Missouri. Family tradition says
the family moved to St. Francois County because relatives were there. The only relative in
the county mentioned was George Wiley Watson, Mary's brother. The family also recalled
that Mary had a brother, William Watson, but they did not know anything else about him,
nor did they have names of any other siblings or parents.
The Moore family is found in Shannon County, Missouri, in 1860. Household 436/365, post
office Eminence, lists John Moor, 41, farmer, b. Kentucky; Mary, 30, mistress of house, b.
Tennessee; William, 7, b. Illinois; Martha, 5, b. Illinois; Kezziah, 2, b. Missouri.
Kezziah would have been Mary K. Moore, who family tradition says was born at Eminence.
Richard Bush lived next door to the Moores. I have not found a marriage record, but
believe his wife may have been a Watson. Household 450/376 in the township was that of
William Watson, 31, and Margaret, 30. William and Pegg Watson were living next door to
Nancy Watson in 1850 in Madison County, Missouri. Nancy's household included Wainey,
age 14.
I am curious as to whether you have found information on John and Mary Moore in your
research.
