Message Board Post:
I'm going to post this info here to hopefully help others research. This is in regards
to Aden Carver who married Martha Roberts and lived in the Smokies of NC.
It all goes back to:
John Carver b.1657 Headley, Hampshire, England who married Mary Lane of
Bucho,Pennsylvania. They married in Herfordshire, England and had 5 children;
1) John Carver b.1687
2) Mary Carver b.1682
3) Richard Carver b.1686
4) Ann Carver b.1688
5) James Carver b.1691
Next Generation. Now we move on to John Carver b.1687. He was born in Philadelphia, PA. He
married a fine Irish gal named Isabel Welding b.1688 of Kendal, Ireland. They had 4
children;
1) Christopher Carver b.1705
2) John Carver b.1717
3) Ann Carver b.1719
4) Isaac Carver b.1722
Next Generation. Now we move on to Christopher Carver b.1705. He went on to marry Nancy
Draper. They went on to have a son;
1) Christopher Christen Carver b.1756
Next Generation. Now we focus on Christopher Christen Carver b.1756 who went on to marry
Elizabeth Whisenhunt b.1766. She was the daughter of Phillip Whisenhunt and was of German
descent from the areas of Lancaster PA, which is Amish country and they are of German
descendancy. I have info on Elizabeth, but for now I'm only focusing on her children.
They got BUSY and had 14 children;
1) Infant Carver b.1795
2) Joseph Carver b.1797
3) Christen Carver b.1798
4) Jacob Adam Carver b.1799
5) David C. Carver b.1803
6) Catherine Carver b.1804
7) Infant Carver b.1805
8) Thomas Carver b. 1811
9) Lucinda Carver b.1812
10)Alexander Carver b.1814
11)Nancy Carver b.1815
12)Williams Carver b.1816
13)Israel Carver b.1817
14)James Carver b.1818
Next Generation. Now we move on to Isreal Carver b.1817 who went on to marry Mary Bradley
b.1822 in Burke County, NC. She is the daughter of Isaac Bradley b.1772 in Bute, NC.I have
some history on her, but again just focusing on the Carvers. More movin' and
shakin' as they had 13 children;
1) Infant Carver b.1840
2) Louisa Emaline Carver b.1842
3) Benjamin Carver b.1844
4) Isaac Carver b.1846
5) Rachael Susannah Carver b.1847
6) Aden Andrew Carver b.1850
7) Noah Carver b.1852
8) Martha Carver b.1853
9) Infant Carver b.1856
10)Deborah Carver b.1858
11)Eliza Jane Carver b.1860
12)Infant Carver b.1861
13)Elias Carver b.1865
Next Generation. So now we have Aden Andrew Carver b.1850.He went on to marry Martha
Roberts b.1849. This particular line thins a bit because they had 5 children and only 2
boys.
1) Julius Carver
2) Jane Dock Carver b.1875
3) Viola Carver
4) Alice Carver
5) George Aden Carver
Next generation. George Aden Carver went on to marry Martha Drucilla Gibson(Mattie).
Mattie had a child prior to her children with George. I'll include her with an
asterisk. Out of their 8 combined children, only 2 of the boys went on to father children
and carry the name so again, this line thins a bit.
1) Lou Lou*
2) Roy Lee Carver (Sr.)
3) William Lawrence Carver
4) John Kelly Carver
5) Arnold Carver
6) Jack Carver
7) Marie Carver
8) Carrie Lee
Next Generation. Roy Lee Carver went on to marry Jessie Helen Pruett b. 1925 of the
Inman/Pruett/Franklin family. I have info on her family as well. They went on to settle in
Canton, NC and had 3 children;
1) Roy Lee Carver Jr. b.1957
2) Sheila Ruth Carver b.1958
3) Temothy Dewayne Carver b.1961
Next Generation. Temothy Dewayne Carver b.1961 married in 1988 Cathleen Marie O'Rourke
b.1970. They went on to have 2 children together, my wonderful sons!
1) Andrew Daniel Carver b.1989
2) Stephen Michael Carver b.1991
So far...it stops there. I'm not a grandmother....yet! I do also have some other
fringe detail information about certain family members and deaths and marriages. All of
this information was relayed to me by Roy Lee Carver Sr. and Jessie Helen Pruett. Long
before I ever had children, geneology meant a lot to me. I sat them down on many a cold
winter mountain morning and wrote notes and made an index file of the info and stories
they had to tell. This was all done around in 1986. Roy died back in 1987 and Jessie died
in 1993. I'm very glad to have had the opportunity to have spoken with them and heard
their tales. The years I lived in the NC Mountains are very dear to me and bring back
memories of wonder and amazement since I moved there straight out of New York City!!
I hope any of the information I have posted is helpful to others searching out their
lines. You can contact me directly at cathleen.o'rourke(a)lmco.com
