All of the info that I got from Jessie and Roy came over time and after attending the
Carver reunions in Smokemont. Most of this stuff gets copied from other family members and
I eventually got it and just put together the tree with the info told to me. It is not my
family so I never thought to REALLY question things quite so deeply. There very well could
be mistakes, from each person doing whatever research on their own and compiling it all
together when they gather at reunions and such. I know dates vary on birth years. Some
have Israel as being born 1814 yet by a census record taken in 1880 he stated his own age
as 63, which would put him at 1817, so I'm not entirely sure. I would LOVE to have
100% accurate records but geez this is a hobby lord knows working full time and everything
I haven't gotten SOOOO deep and scoured old file cabinets for paperwork in PA!! LOL
I do know that throughout the family lore they knew some branches came from the North,
through PA and that at some point these could also trace to Jemestown in VA. The Carver
name is SO common and widespread that it really does get hard to trace!!
Ok....now the stuff I have here says Christopher Christen Carver b.1756 (and it is
Christen, not Christian from all I gather) was married to Elizabeth Whisenhunt b.1766, Her
mother was Mary Bohelier b.1735 and her father was Phillip Whisenhunt b.1736. Phillip
comes from Johann Adam Whisenhunt (Whisenthutt) b. 1719 in Germany and his mother was Anna
Barbara Eaker b.1720. Thats all I know on that.
The ages seem to line up and work out for the most part so I never went into it any
further. My own family tree is from Nicaragua and Russia on my mother's side and damn
near 100% full Irish O'Rourkes on my father's side. O'Rourke is a VERY common
Irish name and is also hard to go back on. The Russian name we CAN'T get further than
Ellis Island 1918 and the Nicaraguan side we can get back to the 1700's but that gets
tricky because Spanish and native Indian's do that weird name switchy thing from
mothers instead of father lines.
I would LOVE to get accuracy in everything I research. You also can't account for
certain family's and illegitimacy as well. I have information on ENTIRE lines relating
to Carver's that were fathered by Carver's yet it was through extramarital affairs
and the legitimacy went to current husband's named otherwise!!! Now THAT gets
interesting!!!
So I guess to sum it all up, anything I have was obtained secondhand through word of mouth
and other true family members that said they did the research. Roy knew his father George
Aden, grandfather Aden Andrew and great grandfather Israel. He knew Israel's father
was Christopher, and he was the inspiration for some young cousin to be named. My
ex-husband Temothy wanted to name our son Andrew Aden, but we decided on Andrew Daniel
instead.
I guess if I had the real time to do it I could pay and register at some sites that post
copies of paper documentation, but I can't just yet. I'm open for all tweaking of
info to get it straight for the sake of my 2 sons. I remarried and had a 3rd son who's
last name is Hudson (yea great, another uncommon name!!) and my In-laws have no desire to
do geneology stuff so I have to work EXTRA hard to give something to my youngest! Their
attitude is 'Eh, they're all dead, why do you care?' so I will have to work
double duty to make any headway and I have yet to start.
I'm going to keep checking this site and this thread and maybe, one day...I'll get
everyone's feedback and we'll figure it out together! I'm game!!!
