Since your message was written in 2003, you've probably already gotten an answer to
your query. Just in case you haven't, there is information about this family at
www.mccarverclan.com/carver/CarverGeorgeWashington.htm
George William CARVER married 1.)Julia GLOER 9 - 1 - 1881. They had Tina Ann. He
married 2.) Laura Florence NEWHOUSE (the daughter of William and Elizabeth NEWHOUSE) 8 -
18 - 1892 in St. Francois Co., MO. William NEWHOUSE was the brother of my g grandmother,
Matilda NEWHOUSE. This NEWHOUSE family was in Obion Co., TN in 1880, and I only recently
found them in St. Francois Co. Laura's brother, James H. NEWHOUSE, sister Isabel (m.
George W. HENDERSON), half-sister, Louisa (m. Elijah EARNEST) and their mother Elizabeth
were living in St. Francois Co. in 1910. I'm still looking to confirm the names of
the children of Laura and George William CARVER. I believe they may have been Viola,
Zelda, Ben, Roger?, Leo, and Clyde. This is from the 1920 St. Louis Co., MO Census.
Laura was head of household so George must have been deceased by that time. She seemed to
be running a sort of boarding house. In addition to the above mentioned poss. children of
hers, she had about 20!
other people in the household. All the people, including the children were listed as
"roomers". I've tried to find them in the 1900 census, searching image by
image, but it's a slow process. I don't know, for sure where any of the family
members were in 1900. Good luck with your research.
