There are two Wills Carver born in the Fox Island. The first was born
1785. The second was born 1810-1812 (my ancestor). I have been trying
for years to link into the other Carvers of the Fox Islands without
success. Any clues ?? At 07:35 AM 8/31/2010, you wrote:

Fox Island is the earlier name for Vinalhaven.
I own the book Vital Records of Vinalhaven, Knox County, Maine Prior
to 1892, transcribed by Elizabeth M. Mosher, published by Picton Press.
There is NO George Allen Carver listed in the index.
There are two mentions of two different men named Stephen Carver
(one is a birth record, one is a marriage record and the years are
too close together to be the same person; probably cousins or uncle-nephew).
There are three men named William Carver (each has a different
middle initial). There is one Wills Carver (my ancestor).
Send me some family group sheet names and dates for the Stephen
Carver you're interested in. It may turn out that one of the two
Stephens listed is yours.
It's possible you're looking at the wrong island, too.
For more descendants of Robert Carver of Marshfield, MA, nephew of
Gov. John Carver of the Mayflower:
I don't have it, but Picton Press also has another book with Vital
Records of North Haven and I know there were some Carvers located there.

Searsport, ME has more Carvers; that branch of the family built and
sailed ships (the offspring of one of my ancestor's brother sailed
some of those ships; they're pictured and there are brief bios of
them in a book entitled Searsport Sea Captains, published by the
museum in Searsport; I have that book, too).

Black, Col. Frederick Frasier. Searsport Sea Captains. Searsport,
ME: Penobscot Marine Museum, 1989. Biographical information on the
many sea captains who came from Searsport, their vessels, and their families.
There were other Carvers at Lincolnville, ME, but I don't remember
which branch of the Carver family they belong to.
I'm also a descendant of Robert Carver.
P.S. I think there is a separate email list just for descendants of
Robert Carver. I know I signed up for it at one time, but I seldom
get any emails from that list so I don't know if it was discontinued or not.
