Hello, Larry! Thank you for your reply; this is starting to get very interesting! I am
just beginning to research my Carver side of the family of which I know little, only a few
details given to me by an uncle. As I mentioned, my uncle's middle name is Aden. He
told me Aden (Aiden) Carver married Ola Beddics, but I am wondering if perhaps the last
name was Biddix. I have been unable to find any family named Beddics in NC.
I located Aden and Ola in the 1920 and 1930 census records. Based on Aden's age, I
calculated he must have been born about 1875 or 1876. I then found an Aden, age 5, in the
1880 census for McDowell Co., NC. His father is William (35 yoa), his mother is Rebecca
(33 yoa), he has four older sisters (Caroline, Nancey, Elizabeth, Laney S.) and one
younger brother (Thomas). Living in the household is William's 72-year old mother,
Jane. I think this William could be your William and Jane's son, and William and
Rebecca's son, Aden, my great grandfather. Do you know when and where Jane was born?
I also located the McDowell County - Vitals - Delayed Birth Index A-E, which lists
Granville (wrong birth year; correct month and day), Briscoe, Robert (my grandfather),
Fred, and William Aden. These were indeed my grandfather's brothers. The parent is
listed as either Aden Carver or Aden Sevier Carver. I do not know Aden's middle name,
and the census records for 1920 and 1930 list the initial as "C." The census
recorder might not have known how Sevier was spelled, and incorrectly recorded the middle
initial.
I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts and hope to hear from you again soon.
