I need a little more leads to better help you. I checked the Portuguese Immigants to Hawaii, including Mr. Demello's Immigant list. No Pica. I also checked the index for each island in Portuguese-Hawaiian Memories by J. F. Freitas 1930. No Pica or Peca. But there was a Picadura, but first names where Augusta Rodriques. To far off from your family surnames. Did they come in as contract workers for the plantations? If so, then they have to be on file. If they came in separate, that is on their own as many did later on in the early 1900's, than it will be alittle more difficult to track. If you are familar with Mr. Freitas book, sometimes going and reading each family page also hold additional information. For example, families that are also related to us - or married into the Sampaio are the Ahsings and Ventures. I do thank him in my prayers. Again, if you can give me some time frame when they arrived, it would be helpful. take care, always with aloha, waipili

Karen! Hah! I found out who she belonged to! Donna Marie Rose was Aunt Connies girl. Get this the "Rose" name well it seems Angela was also a Rose and not a Pensotti like we all thought. Uncle Lloyd was the only one who knew Aunt Connie had 5 kids at the time of her death. Talk about throwin me for a loop.
There is also some scuttle butt about her death, seems as though besides me there are more people within the family that believes this was a murder and not a suicide as it was ruled.
I have the original articles if you need them on her.

Hi Frannie,
I know I am being naughty by contacting you through this site, so when you see me next, you are entitled to give me "Holy Hell-o" if you want to :o) I have been unable to get in contact with you, so I thought this might be an easier and more accommodating method for the both of us. I just hope you get this because there's a fair chance you are no longer at the same e-mail address. It appears that you last posted on this site in early 2006.
I just wanted to let you know that I did try to call you when I first discovered the cat with the badly injured paw. I first noticed him last Wednesday. Unfortunately, I didn't have my pet carrier with me (just my luck, I had just taken it out of the car a couple of days before when Peanut had his neuter surgery). But, I was able to get a good look at his paw that day and amazingly he had been able to keep it clean. I didn't notice any sepsis, infection, etc. Since I knew I would be unable to cage him that day, I spent quite a bit of time with him just getting him used to human contact. I called you while at the dump, but I couldn't get through. I was going to ask that if I took him to the vet and paid for treatment, if you would be able to find someone to rehab him. I would have rehabbed him myself, but I wasn't up for any complaining or flack from my significant other about one more cat in the house :o). It's a touchy subject right now.
Anyway, since I wasn't able to get you, I called Mary to see if you might be there. I tried your house again that night, but your line was busy. So, the next day I took my carrier and planned to take him then. It took me a while to find him, but luckily I did. I looked at his paw to see how it was doing, it still looked clean and uninfected. But, I noticed that he was still having a lot of trouble bearing weight on it. I put down some food and fresh water for him, and he ate well. I then went to get the carrier, which I had left nearby. But, as I started walking with it, a couple of other cats saw it and bolted. This, in turn, caused him to flee, which included running across the street to station #1 (I about had a heart attack because traffic was heavy that morning). I felt it was better at that point not to stress him further and decided to go back that afternoon to make another attempt. However, I couldn't find him.
I called both you and Mary again, but couldn't reach either one of you. The following day, Mary left a message saying that you had been able to catch him and planned on taking him to the vet. It was a tremendous relief & Blessing to hear this. I then got a message from you that night about the spay/neuter plans in Kona and the hurt paw cat, but your line was busy when I returned your call about an hour later. I wanted to THANK YOU for your efforts with the injured cat and to also volunteer to go to Kona if that would be helpful. But, I guess it was a good thing I didn't get through because at about 4:00 a.m. the next morning, I awoke with a humdinger migraine. I still haven't been able to get rid of it completely, but the intensity has subsided.
When I received your phone call tonight, I kind of got the feeling that you thought I hadn't tried getting in touch with you about the injured cat. I sensed concern in your voice. But, rest assured, you were the first person I called. In my mind, you are the president/leader of our Sisterhood, and my plans then and now are always to consult/inform you of anything that concerns me involving the cats.
I am beginning to think a phone call tomorrow would have been better now that I have written a book (sorry!). One final thing, I just wanted to remind you that I will be gone from April 4th (this Wednesday) through April 12th (a Thursday). My Dad's condition is worsening, and I need to see him and start making plans for living there. I left a message on your machine, but wasn't sure if I got cut off or not. Unfortunately, this means I won't be able to feed for two weeks straight. I'm sorry to have to burden everyone, but selecting those dates provided the cheapest fare, which is an important factor right now. When I get back, I'll be more than happy to fill-in for whoever covered for me.
Hope you get this e-mail. Also, even though I am using this site to try and contact you, I still do not know your e-mail address. Since this is a forum-type site, I assume your address is withheld. My address, in case you cannot find it, is alohajsm(a)hawaii.rr.com.
Please let me know as soon as you can when and if you get this message (a short confirmation is fine). Otherwise, I'll try calling you again before I leave to go to California. By the way, when is your knee surgery again? If I am back by then and you need any help, just let me know. Take care...
Aloha,
Jacqueline :o)
