I am having trouble with my server creating bounces so hopefully this
message will reach the list. I sent a Christmas card to the list but I
have not seen it so might server might of fouled up again. In case the
Christmas card does not reach the list to everyone member of the list, A
VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY MILLENNIUM. I want to thank you all for
being a member of the Caruthers list. By the way we now have 34 members
so the list is growing with time. I would like to see more activity but
with a small list that usually does not happen so please be patient when
there is no activity. Even one of my lists with double the membership
does not have a a couple of posts a week. The only my larger lists with
two hundred or more members has daily messages. If you have any thing
you would like to post please feel free to do or if you have any useful
information on genealogy please do not feel that only queries are
welcome.
I have always liked history but I never felt a personal tie from
history but since I have been into genealogy history often seems so much
closer. When I read about the early Plymouth settlers it reminds me of
an early ancestor Richard Bullock who settled in Massachetts around
1640. When I read about the Revolutionary War I think of some of my
Bullock ancestors who lived in Massachetts and moved to Duchess County
New York probably as a result of the strife. When I read about the Civil
War I have mixed emotions as I have ancestors on both side although the
most direct ancestors fought for the CSA on my mothers side. When I read
about the Seminole Wars I know now that my ggggrandfather Martin lost a
child to an arrow and fought in the Second Seminole Indian War. I hope
genealogy has also created a personal touch with history for the rest of
the members.
I am using this as an example of material members might want to
contribute since this is a small list we need not feel constrained by
some guide lines needed by larger lists of keeping to a strict topic of
queries or the like.
