Hi jackie: Since your relatives are from Jackson, Tennessee. I was wondering if we are
kin. My grandma Fannie Mae Owens (Carothers) married a Tom. Only thing I know her
husband must of died young early age. -- I remember them telling me he was from a big
family. I dont know if like his father had so many and his wife had so many that it was a
big family of 20.
I remember them talking of a John Henry Carothers, he was a principal , I believe in
Ponitoc, Ms. ( I dont know if this was a brother or Uncle) -- Sam Berry Carothers, Harold
carothers, Tootsie carothers, (I met a young Sam Berry, Lynette, in detroit) name after
his father.
What Hulka, Kosego, Tupelo Ms. where some of the Carothers were.
During the fifty and sixtys one of my relatives stayed on Islin Street
near the railroad tracks there. my aunt
(Toms Daughter) Mattie Pearl (Carothers) Evans Mitchell
Her children (grown now) late 50s early 60s Elza Lee Evans (nickname Dinky) , his sister
Jenny Evans lived in Jackson Tenn.
(I remember the Arnolds family, Jerry Black in the Projects, and the Faye White in the
Projects. the Goldmans, Whiteside )we were very young . no kin. Just reminiscing the
times I use to spend summers there. Going to the park in the project to a store, where the
(black) blind man who work there could tell if you had a one dollar bill or five. Or to
the cafe on Daughtery st.
ok if any of this sound familiar to u let me know. feel free to email or respond.
