My main page on my Dist 5420 website,
http://www.xmission.com/~dist5420, is corrupted
somehow, and I can't figure it out. Will one of you experts out there check it and see
if you can tell me what is wrong? It is printing the copy of the "index.htm"
rather than doing what it is supposed to do.
I received the following from another person, which might help describe the problem
better:
> I took a look at that page and for whatever reason, it has been
generated with all the html tags in display format rather than
allowing the browser to actually perform the tag functions. <<
I responded with: "The original done with MS Word Internet Assistant has had dozens
of changes made, and I do them all by HTML. The changes I made that messed this up was an
additional link, not any change to the index.htm page itself."
> Very strange. I've not worked with Word Internet Assistant.
When
I pull up the document in Netscape and then save it and look at it
in an editor, it has JavaScript variable symbols in it to allow
printing the < and > symbols as text without having the browser
trip on them as control characters. Its as if the whole page was
generated in some sort of editing mode to display the control codes
rather than generate the actual ones that the browser could execute. <<
