Hi,
I have CARTWRIGHTs from Lower Gornal & Sedgley, who were Publicans.
An Edward Parkes CARTWRIGHT (1817-1892, operated the White Chimneys Inn,
Lower Gornal.
His son William Meanley CARTWRIGHT (1858 - 1916) who operated the Lion Inn,
Sedgley.
It seems a "long shot" that they may be related but......

Subject: CARTWRIGHT, Catterick and Middleham, Yorkshire, England
Dear Listers,
I am researching the CARTWRIGHT family of Catterick, Yorkshire, England,
most
especially William, who was innkeeper of The Three Horseshoes in 1881.
I
suspect that he may have been the son of John CARTWRIGHT and Elizabeth
KING,
who married at Catterick in 1797. I also suspect that he may have been
a
relative of John CARTWRIGHT, a jockey, who, in 1880, was mentioned in the
Newmarket (Suffolk, England) Journal, as follows: 'Married. On the 7th
inst.,
at Newmarket, Thomas O'Connor Davis, of 12, Regent-street, London,
to Mary
Sarah, second daughter of the late John Cartwright, of Middleham.' I would
be
very grateful for anything on any of these people (they're the
wife's
crowd!).
Yours, etc.
Geoffrey in Cambridgeshire, England.
