I'm new to your list, 78 y/o DWF, TX. I'm from "Thomas #3? Cateright, [b.
1805 NC] A Quaker m. to "Grace Hally of Lettle Rever in the same presenke in the
Symons creek Quaker Meeting House on 4th day of 9th mo. 1693"[(now called April] He
made a mark for Cartwright and Grace signed her name. They were in Pasquotank Co., TN.
We're from the South after Robert explored the so.eastern coast with Robertson's
Expedition. Then moved to Polk Co., TN, had a child b. in Miss. enroute to Cherokee Co.,
TX [1850 census] and I've ordered from Ft. Worth NARA the file on Thomas's wife,
Cherokee Lucinda A. Brown, estate. so she d. bet. 1860-1870 in Alba, TX. There were
three brothers in St. Mary County, MD in the 1600s from the book by Connie Cartwright
Kosloski ? which i have misplaced. She found they had emigrated from Zeeland, England
where they were mariners. I found they were originally Huguenots in mid 1500s fleeing
France during the Edict of Nantes and name was spelled Caterette [I think.] William
Cartwright [patent 1668] willed his land to the first [of three]Thomas. I have Pasquotank
Will and Deed books by Laura Wills and have found no Samuels. I do believe Preacher Peter
is from this group as have a deed that I don't have with me that made me think he was
selling out. I'd check with the St. Mary's earlest cenus.

Good luck on your research. Most of what I have on this family is from your
posts over the years.
I looked into this Cutright family but never found a connection to the Rev
Peter even though they lived in Sangamon Co at the same time for a while.
The Rev Peter, his ancestors and descendants, used the spelling Cartwright
100 % of the time in the records I have found Maryland, Virginia, Kentucky,
Illinois, Missouri and Oklahoma.
There are two Cutrights whose Rev War records show that they were born in
Hampshire Co Va and enlisted from there I think. A John Cutright b 1752 and
a Peter Cutright b 1759. I don't know if they were brothers or cousins. John
died in W Va on 8 Mar 1850. He married Rebecca Truby. Neither of their
pension statements say who their father was.
Peter died after 1833 in Illinois.
Here are some notes on Peter b Hampshire, Va from his RW file.
Peter Cartwright rev war age 81 in household of Samuel Cartwright
Dewitt Co Illinois
http://www.iltrails.org/rwdx.htm ( I tried this site just now and it does
not exist anymore, so I guess this info came from a census regarding
Veterans of the RW living in Illinois)
PETER CUTRIGHT was a native of Virginia, born in Hampshire county, 1759. He
enlisted September 1, 1780, and served six months with Captains Daniel
Riteson and Robert Cravens, Colonel Robert Stevens commanding. Peter
Cutright came to Illinois and resided for a time in Macon County, his
application for pension being from that county in 1833. He lived in Sangamon
county until three years before his death, when he was a resident of DeWitt
county, where his last pension was drawn September 4, 1841. The place of his
burial is not known.
movements per Peter RW file:
1785 Fayette and then Bourbon Co Ky
1788 moved to Montgomery co till 1805 then Madison Co, Ohio
1822 moved to Sangamon, then 1833 to Putnam Co,ILL then back to Sangamon in
183?
moved to Macon Co ILL 4 wks before application on 2 Dec 1833.
Daniel Cutright teste, but no relationship stated.
I really can't prove that Peter and John Cutright were brothers, and that
Samuel was the son of Peter, but it appears that way so far.
Footnote.com has the RW files of these two men, I also have snippets from
those records if you are interested.
