Beverly
This is from my notes. I am not in this line. I think this Peter Cutright is
the father of your Samuel. The Peter Cartwright of Amherst served 5 yrs
whereas yours 6 months, so it is easy to distinguish between the two.
However, this Peter Cutright/Cartwright moved to Sangamon Illinois for a
while which makes it confusing. No relation to the Rev Peter UNLESS the
Hampshire Co, Va. Peter was descended from a Robt Cartwright died bef Nov
1799 Berkley Co West Virginia son of Peter d 1751 Md.
Although I don't see any connection between the two although it is
interesting the your Peter moved to Sangamon for a while.
Wonder why?
Mike
I descend from Peter d 1751 in Md via his son Gustavus.

This is from Beverly in Portland Oregon:
1. I wish that this list would be more active in helping each other get
info for our ancestors!
2. I would hope that we would all take turns asking questions about our
Cartwright's and answering questions that are queries that would help
each other.
3. I have no idea if anyone is related in some way to my Cartwright's!
4. I have never meant anyone subscribing to this list.
5. I posed a question about my Cartwright's and never received any
answers. I continue to be subscribed in hopes that someone else will
ask a question about my ancestor's.
My Temperance Cartwright married Mason Davenport in Circa 1855. They
had Sarah, Peter, Emma Lucille, Frisby and Alma Elmer Davenport, my
grandfather. I am guessing that Temperance Cartwright was born ca.
1835. I believe that she died in Frederick, Rice County, Kansas. She
would have been about 51 years of age. I have her in the 1850 census
with her father & mother, but that surname is listed as "Cutright".
Samuel Cutright, is age 57, and his wife, Sally, is age 58. They are in
DeWitt County, IL in T20N, R2E. Temperance is listed as age 13 with
several other children. I believe that Samuel had married Sally
Allington.
Anyone else that is tracing this family? I would like to be in touch
with you, so we can help each other.
I believe that this family was a part of the Peter Cartwright family,
the famed Circuit Rider with the Methodist Church.
