I have details of my line of Cartwright back to 1771 (William
Cartwright),
starting in north yorkshire and ending up in durham. with the exception of
John who emigrated to Austraila all remained pretty much local to north
east england.
I can't trace any further back than 1771 as there are too many possible
William Cartwrights in surrounding area's to be certain which is my
ancestor.
Hi Pete, sounds like my neighborhood, in North Yorkshire
