I have relatives named cartwright one of which emigrated to Australia from
UK. Completley unrelated, but you never know. Here's his details:
John (Jack) CARTWRIGHT (1882-1973). John was born in 1882 in Stockton,
Durham. He appeared in the census on 5 April 1891 in Dalton, North
Yorkshire. He appeared in the census on 31 March 1901 in Deaf Hill,
Durham. On 31 March 1901 he was a Cartman at colliery in Deaf Hill. On
11 August 1906 he was a Quarryman in Deaf Hill. He married Elizabeth Ann
HAMPSON on 11 August 1906 in St Pauls Church, Deaf Hill cum Langdale,
Durham in the presence of Geo. Wm. CARTWRIGHT and Polly CARTWRIGHT. Wife
Elizabeth Ann died 1907 in Deaf Hill, Durham. John appeared in the census
on 2 April 1911 in Deaf Hill. On 2 April 1911 he was a Quarryman in Deaf
Hill. He emigrated from London, England to Sydney, Australia on 10
February 1912. He married Mary Rose MEAGHER in October 1920 in Lithgow,
New South Wales, Australia. John and Mary CARTWRIGHT appeared in the
electoral role Lithgow, New South Wales, Australia 1930, Living in
Chiver's Farm, Marrangaroo. John was a Dairyman 1930. John and Mary
CARTWRIGHT appeared in the electoral role Lithgow, New South Wales,
Australia 1936, living in Mudgee Road, Bowenfels. John was a Dairyman
1936. John died on 27 August 1973 in Lithgow, New South Wales, Australia.

G'day Eddie, I read all of your message and must say that it was very
informative and detailed. I had to grin when I saw that place called "Deaf
Hill":-) I've no way on knowing if any of my line Cartwrights emigrated to
the Oz or any other country, but it'd be interesting to find out or be told
by a distant "kin" Cartwright.
