I have posted many messages before about tracing my great-grandmother Emma
Elizabeth Cartwright.
I am however now attempting a different tack...
What follows is the only known info about her (posted many times before, I
know!!), but I am about to take a side-step....
Emma Died/buried 7th May 1931.
Apparently she was Welsh - but cannot be certain of this (my
great-grandfather was first supposed to have met her at a hotel whilst he was
on hols)
She was always known as 'EM'
Great-grandfather ARTHUR WAKELAM married EMMA ELIZABETH CARTWRIGHT 28.09.1903
Birmingham St. Philips.
Marriage Cert -
Age at marriage - 24
Parents did not attend wedding it is believed.
Father's name on cert GEORGE
Father's residence - 85 Newhall St, Birmingham
Occupation - Pottery Art Moulder
Witnesses - these were Wakelams.
Now the different tack...
Was her name EMILY and not EMMA?
Or
Was her name ELIZABETH EMMA, and called herself by her middle name?
Clutching at straws, but you never know!
Can anyone help me please it is proving almost impossible.I have no access to
Birmingham files, films, records or otherwise as I live in Devon.
Here's hoping. and thanking anyone in advance of any assistance.
