Subject: [CARTWRIGHT] Origins of Maidens Bridge in Forty Hill,
Enfield,North London
It should be called The Maiden Bridge and there has been a bridge
standing in that spot since at least the 1480's when there is a
reference to it in the second year of Richard III reign. It seems to
have been rebuilt with brick and mortar around 1761 and something that
might interest you that I found in Whitaker's History of Enfield where
says that there used to be sign there that said "Any person wilfully
injuring any part of this Count bridge will be guilty of felony and upon
conviction liable to be transported for life by the court".

And then you landed in Australia???
