Dear Earliene,
I cannot believe how wonderful your people are. I have everything I need
now
on the Cartmell's - all the way back to Northumberland, Eng. I am
overwhelmed
at the generosity of the people who wrote with discs that they downloaded
for
me. I am so grateful to them.
I wrote each of them personally, but would you please let everyone else know
how much I appreciate the outpouring of information from the people on-line
with you? They are beginning to feel like family. I look forward to your
inquiries,
and hope that I, too, can be of service to others in the near future.
Perhaps one
of your inquiries will be something I have researched and can pass on. I
hope so.
Thank you for all of your help. I really appreciate it.
Happy Holidays, and may God bless you and yours.
Sincerely,
Sonja Walker

Sonja,
I posted this to the list, but also wanted to privately give
you the address to Don Mossman as I know that he has done a lot
of research on the Delaware Cartmill's. He is sometimes slow in
answering and you kinda have to beg, but he has a lot.

Hope he can help and in the meantime I will see what I have here.

<<File: ATT00001.htm>>Dear Earliene,
I take it that the majority of the research on the Cartmills is in the male
lines,
like Henry,
John, James, etc. Is there no one out there researching Sarah
Cartmell or
Cartmill who
married Thomas Chester in Chester Co. PA, and them moved into the
Frederick
Co. VA
area? She was a Quaker, but he was not. They ran away to get
married, and
she was
excommunicated from her church. She was the daughter of Nathaniel
Cartmill/Cartmell,
or Samuel Cartmill/Cartmell. She and Thomas Chester went with the
settlers
who moved
into the Shenandoah valley under the leadership of Joist Hite.
I would like to know if anyone has the genealogy of Sarah showing her roots
back to
England,
or if anyone has her children's names so that I can pick up the
next link
in the Chester line.
I believe that David Chester is her son, and the next generation of my
line, but I cannot prove
it. Does anyone know if she had a son named David?
Well, I thought maybe Mr. Owens-Smith might have some information on my
Cartmells.
By the
way, I am related to both Owens and Smiths. Owens in N. Georgis,
Smiths in
NC. Small world,
isn't it?
Thanks for your help. I am really enjoying the discussions.
