"Married on 6-6-1843 Lamira Douglas McGee (born 3-15-1826), the eldest child of Enoch Kelly McGee, a planter of Spencer County, and his wife, Rebecca Cartmell Crist, also of Spencer County. The father and grandfather of Enoch, both named Patrick McGee, were soldiers of the Revolution, the father in the PA. Rifle Regiment, and the son in Harrod's Company of Kentcky Volunteers. Lamira Douglas McGee's maternal grandfather was Jacob Crist, the younger brother of Gen. Henry Crist, of the Revolutionary Army, who so distinguished himself at the Battle of Salt licks, where after being wounded in the foot crawled 12 miles to warn the settlements of the approaching Indians (se account in Collins' History of Kenyucky). Jacob Crist married Rogenah, daughter of Nathan Cartmell , a pioneer Kentucky Revolutionary Soldier, who was with Gen. George Rogers Clark on his famous expidition against the Illinois forts. Nathan'' father, grandfather, and great grandfather were all named Nathaniel!

Hi
This e-mai address was sent to me as I am interested in tracing the
Cartmill family. My Cartmill's come from County Armagh, Ireland but so far
we (the family) haven't been able to find any connection even though we
have been told that there are heaps of Cartmill's from this area.
Could you please send me details and let me know what you require from me.
Thanks
Penny Hazelwood
My Cartmell line begins from my gg/grandmother

Owingsville, KY, Bath Co.. She married ALLEN DONALDSON February 18, 1837 in

bloating, nausea, or vomiting. These are also symptoms of stomach cancer, one
of the leading killers worldwide, although less common in the United States. If
caught early, treatment involves removing the cancerous portion of the stomach.
Motility disorders of the stomach have recently been recognized as a common
cause of INDIGESTION, known as dyspepsia. The stomach also produces intrinsic
factor, a protein necessary for the absorption of vitamin B12. In pernicious
ANEMIA , degeneration of the gastric lining causes the loss of intrinsic factor,
resulting in vitamin B12 deficiency.
According to the Mayo Clinic: He may have died from gastric cancer, gall
bladder, or peptic ulcers. Believe he may have died from gastric Cancer, due
largely to the fact that my mother (Doris Maxine Daniels Gallagher)died from
stomach cancer in in 1979. May be a hereditary factor.

I forgot to mention that I am an active researcher and am close to two fairy good
Libraries for the 1850 Census films so if any of you know of a Cartmill/Cartmell/Cartmel/Cartmille/Cartmile/Cartmale or any other spelling
that needs to be looked up, if you will be patient and send me the location, I
will try to look them up. I would like to be as helpful as I can to all of you.

My line is as mysterious as any. I think my John belongs to
Thomas Cartmill and Mary Warwick but am still searching for
positive proof of that, so I will start with John.
John CARTMILL b. (per census) abt. 1779 d. 1856-1860 (still searching)
Married: Rebecca Hendricks 2-21-1822 Bath County, KY
Rebecca is born in N.C. 1804-1808 per Census reports.
Migrated to DeWitt County, IL. He sold his land in Bath Co.,KY
abt. 1830 but I have not located him on the 1840 census yet or
at least one I can claim for sure. I find him in DeWitt 1850 Federal
Census and 1855 State Census. I feel that his marriage to Rebecca
could have been the second as there is a big age difference and
there is mention in a Thomas Brown will Bath Co. KY that a John
Cartmill is married to Sally Thomas' daughter. Also On the 1820
census Bath Co.,KY he has small children. By the time I catch up
with him only his and Rebecca's children are at home. They are:
1. William T. Cartmill b. 1825 KY m/ Maria Burton 11-14-1850
They lived in Livingston Co. IL. Their known Children are
John T. b. abt 1853, Mary E. b. abt 1854, Louisa F. b. abt. 1857,
Polly A. b. abt. 1859. There could be more child.
2. Polly b. 1831 KY probably married Jessie Towler 1-2-1851
3. Julia Ann b. 6-18-1832 IL or IND.(per census) d. 9-23-1884
DeWitt County, IL. m/ George F. Davenport 5-17-1852
their children: Arminda b. 1856 d. 1923 m/ James T. Scott,
Sarah b.3-26-1859 d. 10-15-1926 m/ Benjamin K. Coppenbarger
4. Tarlton b. abt. 1839 IL m/ Elvira??? Living in Champaign Co.,IL. 1880

Hello everyone,
I am Earliene Kaelin and am the listowner (?) for this list. I thought
I would take the opportunity to welcome all of you and make just a few
suggestions. I started this list to bring together as many active researchers
as possible that are in need or have information to share. My feeling is that
we are all a piece in a huge undone puzzle. If each of us take the pieces we
have gathered (no matter how small) and share with the rest, we might just
get the puzzle put together. We are all connected somewhere back in time.
I know that I have found pieces of information that I know do not belong to my
line but I have saved them. How many of you have done the same? Now is
the time to share those little tidbits. A census here, a marriage there, or even
a mention in a County History somewhere, all these will come to tell the
story. We all have claim to this surname in some way. I think it would be
nice if we all shared what ever we have. It would be nice if everyone could
do one post telling who they are looking for and or any information that they
are stuck on, the oldest Cartmill that they know for sure belongs to them. Please
feel free to give me suggestions on the best way to lead the list and what you
would like to see posted????
I will post my line separately from this message. Again I welcome all of you and
please share the information about this list with anyone you know may be interested.
The More the merrier.
