For Ross Johnson and any other Cartledge surname researchers.
I don't know if there is a connection or not. My gr-gr-grandfather was John
Cartledge, 1809-1865, who emigrated from Hucknall Torkard, Nottingham,
England in 1842. In England he had worked as a lace maker, making machine
made lace in a factory in that area. His younger brother William came
shortly thereafter, and they both later brought their wives and children and
settled in New York state. The brother William was in the Civil War. He
should not be confused with John's son William who was also in the Civil
War, but had joined in Minnesota where he was a homesteader.

Hi Folks.... I don't think so. My ancestors were a branch of
the family
that came in the 1830's to Philadelphia... stone cutters. They pretty
much stayed up north too.

and died
in Darby, Chester County, PA in 1703? Would love to share info.
Thanks,

Good afternoon,
I am researching the CARTLEDGE brothers Joseph, Cyrus, and James, who all
fought during the Civil War. I have some basic information and was
wondering if
anyone out there had any information on then that they would/could share.
Thank you, in advance,
Matt
