Yes, I believe so. I have always been curious about how these two families from the same
line ended up in Choctaw County, MS through different routes. It doesn't appear that
the families were close, geographically or kinwise.
I'm descended from Elijah. We think the name changed from Cartledge to Catledge for
our line either with Elijah or his presumed father, John. Elijah was in the Anson County
(NC) militia at the end of the War of 1812 with a William McMillan. It appears that these
two men (and perhaps others) migrated together eventually to Tuscaloosa, AL. Elijah's
son, Alson, married William's daughter, Lavinia, in Tuscaloosa County. From there
Elijah and his family moved on to what is now Choctaw County, MS.
Would love to compare notes with you.
