Hello all Carter researchers--here's my Carter names in hopes someone out
there and I are connected.
Were your gr gr grandparents DAVIDSON L. AND MARGARET (REEL) CARTER?
Believe DAVIDSON b. circa Aug 1822 near Durham, NC. He was in 16th AL
Regiment in Civil War. Believe he married MARGARET possibly in AL circa
1846--have yet to find any marriage record. Do not know names of either
Davidson or Margaret's parents.
Family is on 1860 Marion Co AL census with the following children: (At some
point, family could have moved to Yalobusha Co MS area or a county close by
there)
Sarah age 14 (she m. John Barefield (Bairfield) 22 Oct 1876 in Yalobusha Co
MS
and later she and husband moved to Hill Co TX) They had
a son,
Dabney. Do not know of other children.
Betress (Beatrice) age 14
Wade Hampton age 11 (he m. his cousin, Martha "Mattie" Carter, daughter of
Henry Carter and Axie (Diggs) Carter.
They also moved to
TX about 1876 to 1878; came back to MS
for a while then
returned to McLennan and Hill Co TX. Wade
died Dec. 1900
and Mattie died Dec. 1938.

MARGARET (REEL) CARTER d. 12 Oct 1888 Hill Co TX.
DAVIDSON L. CARTER residing with daughter and son-in-law SARAH AND JOHN C.
BAIRFIELD on 1900 TX census for McLennan Co. He was approved for Civil War
pension October, 1899. He probably died early 1900's.
Hoping someone might be descendants of DAVIDSON L. AND MARGARET'S children.
