Hi All:
Found one of my "notes to self". Been meaning to pass along a couple of
keyboard tips, but just forgot. No wonder I have a hard time finding
ancestors. Hope this isn't too *off topic*; it is really useful for
genealogy.
Some may already know these, but for those that don't, they can be very
useful. These are for making some of those 'strange' letters you run into.
In all cases, you hold down the ALT key, while entering the +(plus sign) and
numerical sequence "from the keyboard pad"; then release. Make sure your NUM
lock is on.
Alt +20 = ¶
" +21 = §
" +137 = ë
" +138 = è
" +145 = æ
" +155 = ¢
" +156 = £ same thing w/Alt+0163 = £ **The ever popular *pound* sign
" +167 = º (degree mark)
" +171 = ½
" +172 = ¼
" +0137 = (0/percent)
" +0153 = (trademark)
" +0156 =
" +0169 = © (copyright)
" +0190 = ¾
The above are just of a few of the ones I have found helpful. They can be
created in word processing documents, e-mail and genealogy program notes
sections.
