Sheila in reference to your Joel/Jabez Carter, they are both listed on
this Website at:
http://orvf.com/./genweb/orvf/orvf.html
have a great day

That is good, I found more information on that than any other so I
bookmarked
it. I have a Manning in my lineage, using that "Familytreemaker" site got me
back to 600 AD on my Mannings.
It has helped me on a lot of others,
Another decent site is Genforum.
IF you never used it, the URL is (if you want to look for Carter )
http://www.genforum.com/Carter/
It will put you on the Carter surname. it will work with any name same way.
Gendex--Index of surnames
http://www.gendex.com:8080/display?page=surnames&
Gendex is pretty good also, (all are free too !!)
I repeat, your Joel is on that same list you found Jabez on.
Good luck.
