working on. This is my husband's family line. I will give a brief
synopsis below. They lived in Henry, Floyd & Montgomery Counties in

1) In the book 'Floyd County, A History of its people and places' by Dr.
Amos D. Wood, pg.34.
The Carter Family settled near this county about the time of the Am.
Revolution.
HENRY CARTER b.1802 possibly Floyd Co., Va. (Bros & Sis. were BAILEY
CARTER, JESSE CARTER, JOHN CARTER, NANCY CARTER m/David HOWELL, FANNIE
CARTER m/Andy HOWELL). Henry married Malinda AGNEW 8-3l-1820.
Henry & Malinda's Children were:
Lewis, John, Samuel, Henry Calvin, Jacob T., Madison, Isaac N.,
Harvey D., Susan, Ann(?Eliza maybe), Letha Jane, Mary Adaline and
DAVID V. CARTER b.1848 in Floyd Co., Va. Lewis moved to Kentucky.
John & Samuel moved to California. Henry Calvin moved to Kentucky.
Isaac N. was wounded in the battle of Williamsburg in the Civil War and
died of his wounds in prison. Ann's husband, John GARDNER, was also
wounded at Williamsburg and died. James E. was in the army and died of
fever at Manassas,Va. Jacob T and David V. moved to Texas and died
there. Susan wife of Calvin SIMMONS died in Missouri. Madison died at
Pulaski, Va. Ann wife of John Gardner died at Salem, Va. Adaline wife
of Col.P.T. HOWELL died in Floyd County. Harvey D. died at Bluefield,
W. Va. Letha Jane lived at Marion, Va.
