Dolores:
There is a town in Fauquier County Va. called Rectortown. It is a little
north of Marshall. Charles H. Carter born in 1843 in Richmond County Va.
married Sarah Talbott. Her mother was Anne Balthrope from Rectortown Va. I
have visited the town on occation to do some research and it still exists.
The town was a railroad town and as far as I know it was named after the
Rector Family due to the store the family owned at the railroad cross
roads.. If I can dig up any other info , I will pass it allong. I have found
a Jacob Rector born 1742 and died in 1799. he had a son Lewis born 1765 and
died in Anderson Tenn in 1830 . Jacob was a Revolutionary War Soldier. You
can find more info at the following web site

Hi Lynn. I'm researching the Rector family name. Sarah Rector,
b. abt 1774
in Virginia and m. John DeBell on April 7, 1795. He was b. Fauquier Co, VA.
They were my g.g.g.grandparents. Sarah's father was John Rector, b. 1742
and d. 1775. His parents were Henry Rector and Anne Spencer.
If any of this looks like a connection, let me know and I'll snail mail you
what I have which goes back to the 1500s.
