Seeking any information on Lloyed Carter. 1850 census says he was born in
S.C. Nothing is known of parents or siblings. First appears in 1840 census in
Spartanburg, S.C. witnessed a deed in or near Grassy Pond,S.C. in 1845.
(Grassy Pond is north west of present day Gaffney, Cherokee County, S.C.-it
is about one mile from the N.C.-S.C. boarder-across the boarder in N.C. are
Rutherfordton,N.C. and Cleveland County, N.C.) He married in North or South
Carolina Delilah Brooks about 1830. She was daughter of Jesse Brooks who
moved from Anson, N.C. to Spartanburg County, S.C. in about 1832) Some
neighbors near Grassy Pond were Lipscomb, Phillips, Morningstar and Jones)In
1847 he moved to Jefferson County, later to Winston County, Alabama. Others
who made the trip were Delilah's brother, William Wellington Brooks-he
married Rutha Lucinda Long in Winston County in 1859. Delilahs sister
Elizabeth Brooks who married Abisha Wilson in North or South Carolina before
1847. Another sister Jemima, married James Lewis Jones and died in Cherokee
County about 19l5(James was lost in the Civil War,she remained in Grassy
Pond.) Children of Lloyd and Delilah were Allen, James, John, Mary Roaeny,
