In "1870 Census - Tennessee", an index, by Sistler, I found the following:
CARTER, BENJAMIN 28, B, H-505 [I think the "B" means black]
CARTER, BENJAMIN 55, CL-328
CARTER, BENJAMIN O. 59, HU-1
CARTER, BENJAMINE 23, SN-778
CARTER, BENJAMINE 34, J-187
CARTER, BENJAMINE 52, SN-791
CARTER, BENJIMAN 51, GE-301
This index gives only the head of household (I think) so I could not tell if
there was a Tennessee Ann Carter listed in the census with any of the above.
A recent 1870 TN index does list all family members. If you think one of
these is a match, I can try to find more info.
Hi I am looking for Carters that were from Tennessee, migrated to
Arkansas,
and then on to Oklahoma. My grandfather John Hardy Carter was born in
Tennessee 1-13-1875. His parents were Benjamin Carter, and Tennessee Ann ?
(
maiden name unknown). I am trying to find out about my
ggrandparents,
Benjamin and Tennessee Ann. I don't know anything about them, like where
they were from , where they were born, or who their parents were. If any
of
this looks familiar to anyone out there I would love to hear from
you. My
grandpa John married my grandmother Doshie Dollie Barber. Her mother's
maiden name I know was Summit. Hope this all rings a bell with someone.
Thanks in advance if someone can help.
