In researching my family, I discovered that Rev. Charles Polk Cummings was married to
Millicent (Mildred) Carter.
I then found a will as follows:
Dec. 1, 1776, "Thomas Carter of Christ Church Parish, Lancaster, Gent., " made
his will, which was probated on the 19th; he died Dec. 3rd....daughter Millicent Cummings
to have three negros he had already given her, which was all he intended for her;.......
All children except Millicent Cummings to share in the residuary estate."
Is anyone out there related to my Carter or have more information about this family? The
will lists all the children of Thomas Carter but, since there was no mention of a wife, I
assume she was dead.
Does anyone have an idea why nothing was left to Millicent?
