Do
you have a John Carter Jr born 1-2-1813, or a Job Carter, born about 1807 who was
"Deaf & Dumb" per census... Thanks.

Jesse
Marshall carter, second son of James Madison Carter and Ann(Mary Ann,
or Amy) Turner, was born
May 7, 1846 in Cumberland County, KY.
In July 1848, when Jesse was two his father died. Jesse's mother and two
brothers live with his
Turner grandparents, Larkin and Jane Heard Turner. In 1852, Jesse's
Grandmother Jane died and in 1855, when he was 9, his mother died. In 1857,
Grandfather Larkin Turner died.
In 1856, at the age of ten, he was taken in by his Aunt Rachel(his mother's
sister) and her husband, Joseph
S. Truener-- apparently unrelated-- his family from Virginia, but arrived in
Cumberland County long after
her family.
Shortly thereafter the Turners moved form Monroe County, Kentucky to Wright
County Mo with nephew
Jess Marshall Carter, and settled in the Clarks Creek area, five miles East
of Hartville, MO.
Civil War Service: 3 years, Private, Company B, 8th Regiment, Missouri
Cavalry, Union Army.
Cornelius Carter, oldest son of James Madison and Ann Turner Carter with his
Great Uncle Thomas Carter,
brother of Josiah Carter, Sr. Cornelius served the the First Kentucky
Cavalry. After the war he and
his wife Missouri Cloud Carter moved to Missouri.
Jerry Madison Carter, Youngest son of James Madison and Ann also lived with
grandparents until their
death. After the war Jerry went to Orange County, IN to find his
half-sister, Susanna. There he met and married Melinda Elizabeth Melton and Jerry
became a farmer in Craw3ford County, IN.
I have been to KY and found the grave of Ann Turner and talked with members
of her family several years
ago. No one can find a death certificate for James Madison Carter. His
first wife name was Rhona Ray
from southern Indiana, possibly Orange County. After Rhonda died Susanna
was left in the care of her
maternal grandparents.
I have the family Bible that give me most of the above information. I also
have letters that family members
have written through the years.
If you can be of any help-please advise.
